The book of Obadiah gives us some details as to what will happen to these nations…

15 "The day of the LORD is near for all nations. As you have done, it will be done to you; your deeds will return upon your own head…

17 But on Mount Zion will be deliverance; it will be holy, and the house of Jacob will possess its inheritance.

18 The house of Jacob will be a fire and the house of Joseph a flame; the house of Esau will be stubble, and they will set it on fire and consume it. There will be no survivors from the house of Esau." The LORD has spoken.

19 People from the Negev will occupy the mountains of Esau, and people from the foothills will possess the land of the Philistines. They will occupy the fields of Ephraim and Samaria, and Benjamin will possess Gilead.

1. Mt Zion is Jerusalem

2.The house of Jacob = The Jews

3.The house of Joseph = The Jews

4.The house of Esau = The Arabs

5.There will be no survivors from the house of Esau = Hamas, Hezbollah

6.People from the Negev = Israel

7.People from the foothills = Israel

8.Mountains of Esau = Jordan

9.The land of the Philistines = Gaza

10. The fields of Ephraim and Samaria = West Bank

11. Benjamin = The Jews

12. Gilead = East bank of Jordan River

I believe Scripture tells us that the battles of Psalm 83 nations are fought before the battle of Ezekiel 38. These nations fall and Israel expands.

Iran represents the Persian kingdom

Egypt and Saudi Arabia represent the Arab kingdom

Israel represents the Jewish kingdom

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What happens to Egypt? – See Isaiah 19

What happens to Ammon? (North Jordan)? See Jeremiah 49:2

What happens to Syria / Damascus? See Isaiah 17

What happens to Iraq? See Isaiah 13:19-20

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Isaiah 34:9-10Edom’s streams will be turned into pitch, her dust into burning sulfur; her land will become blazing pitch! 10 It will not be quenched night and day; its smoke will rise forever. From generation to generation it will lie desolate; no one will ever pass through it again.”

Is Isaiah 34:9-10 a prophecy of Southern Jordan and into Saudi Arabia?

Is the “pitch” the oil of Saudi Arabia? Burning?

Is Isaiah 17 a prophecy of Assad in Syria taking a (biological or nuclear) shot at Israel (the glory of Jacob) and then Israel returning fire and destroying Damascus?

“In that day the glory of Jacob will fade; the fat of his body will waste away.”

“Damascus will no longer be a city but will become a heap of ruins.”

Is Zechariah 14:12 a prophecy of nuclear war?

This is the plague with which the LORD will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.”

The Nations of Psalm 83

Psalm 83:2-5

“See how your enemies are astir, how your foes rear their heads. 3 With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish. 4 "Come," they say, "let us destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more." 5 With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against you”

Psalm 83:6-8

the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites, 7 Gebal, Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the people of Tyre. 8 Even Assyria has joined them to lend strength to the descendants of Lot.”

Who are the modern day people of Psalm 83?

  1. Edom = Palestinians (South Jordan)

  2. Ishmaelites = Saudi Arabians

  3. Hagrites = Egyptians

  4. Gebal = Lebanese

  5. Ammon = Palestinians (Jordan)

  6. Amalek = Arabs

  7. Philistia = Palestinians (Hamas in Gaza)

  8. People of Tyre = Lebanese (Hezbollah in Southern Lebannon)

  9. Assyria = Syrians & Iraqis

  10. The descendants of Lot = Palestinians

Jeremiah 49:1 – The Ammonites (modern day Palestians)

Concerning the Ammonites: This is what the LORD says: "Has Israel no sons? Has she no heirs? Why then has Molech taken possession of Gad? Why do his people live in its towns?”

Molech was the god of the Ammonites. The Ammonites descendants gave up following other gods and began following Allah. Ezekiel (all God’s prophets) had no term “Allah” to refer to at the time they wrote. The Palestians are accountable for their present day occupation of the Promised Land

Jeremiah 49:2 But the days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will sound the battle cry against Rabbah of the Ammonites; it will become a mound of ruins, and its surrounding villages will be set on fire. Then Israel will drive out those who drove her out," says the LORD.”

This is modern day Jordan. Israel’s great army advances and will recapture the Promised Land. This war will extend into modern day Saudi Arabia (Dedan)

Jeremiah 49:7 – The Edomites (modern day Palestians)

Concerning Edom: This is what the LORD Almighty says: "Is there no longer wisdom in Teman? Has counsel perished from the prudent? Has their wisdom decayed?”

Jeremiah asks the Edomites or Idumeans (Greek term for Edomites) where their wisdom is in their planning? They desire to eradicate Israel from the face of the earth. This “wisdom” would be in their knowledge and understanding of the Abrahamic covenant. Teman is the grandson of Esau (Jacob’s brother).

Jeremiah 49:20-21 – The Edomites

Therefore, hear what the LORD has planned against Edom, what he has purposed against those who live in Teman: The young of the flock will be dragged away; he will completely destroy their pasture because of them. 21 At the sound of their fall the earth will tremble; their cry will resound to the Red Sea.”

Jeremiah 49:24-27 – The Syrians

Damascus has become feeble, she has turned to flee and panic has gripped her; anguish and pain have seized her, pain like that of a woman in labor. 25 Why has the city of renown not been abandoned, the town in which I delight? 26 Surely, her young men will fall in the streets; all her soldiers will be silenced in that day," declares the LORD Almighty. 27 "I will set fire to the walls of Damascus; it will consume the fortresses of Ben-Hadad.”

Syria will attempt to destroy Israel and in the process it will be destroyed. Syria will try to attack Jerusalem the “city of praise” and in turn it and its god (Allah) will be doomed. (Ben-Hadad was the king of Syria at the time of Jeremiah’s writing).

When does all of this happen?

Ezekiel, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Hosea, Obadiah – none of God’s prophets give us a time but they do describe a condition

  1. Israel would be “cut off” from the land of Israel – meaning they are dispersed around the world.

  2. Their condition would be so grave that if God does not intervene their enemies would exterminate them. (The holocaust & Ezekiel 37 dry bones)

  3. Jews would be regathered into their homeland, a restoration takes place. Jews rebuild ruined and abandoned cities.

  4. The Jews return home in the same spiritual condition they left.

  5. Israel establishes a great army.

  6. Surrounding Arab nations form a confederacy against Israel and they plot to destroy Israel.

  7. An event will happen that even Gentile nations will take notice of the Jewish people and the name of their God.

  8. The middle east is reshaped and Israel begins to expand its borders (Syria, Jordan, Gaza)

  9. The Abrahamic covenant is fulfilled.
