Interpreting the Times Blog/The Culture of Death is Spreading Worldwide

Across the globe, anxiety, depression, and hopelessness are rising at unprecedented levels. Entire generations are being shaped by uncertainty—economic instability, war, rapid technological change, identity confusion, and spiritual emptiness.

Beneath it all, a quiet but devastating reality is emerging: People are being conditioned to give up the will to live. What if the greatest crisis facing humanity today isn’t war… but hopelessness?

The Rise of Apocalyptic Thinking

Consider the growing awareness among the general population:

• 87% of Americans believe we are in a cost-of-living crisis
• 52% struggle to pay bills on time
• 1 in 3 Americans believe the world could end within their lifetime
• Studies now confirm that apocalyptic beliefs are no longer fringe—they are mainstream
• Nearly 40% of U.S. adults believe humanity is living in the end times
The world senses something is wrong.

There is a growing awareness that the systems we depend on—economic, political, social—are unstable. People may not fully understand biblical prophecy, but they feel the weight of something shifting. Yet while the world senses the darkness… much of the Church remains silent.

The Expansion of a Culture of Death

Nowhere is this shift more visible than in the rapid normalization of death as a solution. In nation after nation, Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD), once considered unthinkable, is expanding at an alarming rate.

Canada
• Since legalization in 2016: 76,000+ deaths
• 2024 alone: 16,499 deaths
• Nearly 5% of all deaths (1 in 20)

Netherlands
• 9,958 euthanasia deaths in 2024
• Also, approximately 1 in 20 deaths

Belgium
• 2,699 deaths in 2023
• Around 5% of total deaths

And the trend continues across Europe, Australia, and beyond.

Even more disturbing are reports of individuals being encouraged toward assisted death, not because they are terminal, but because they are suffering emotionally, financially, or physically. Headlines now reveal a chilling reality:

• Patients being offered assisted suicide for non-terminal conditions
• Vulnerable individuals pressured despite refusing

In the United States, assisted suicide is now legal in 13 states, with momentum building. What was once rare is becoming routine. What was once shocking is becoming accepted.

When Death Becomes a “Solution”

This is more than policy; it is a spiritual shift. A culture that once fought to preserve life is now increasingly comfortable ending it. The message is subtle, but powerful:

If life becomes too hard… you don’t have to endure it. This stands in direct opposition to the Word of God.

The Pattern Behind Global Control

At the same time, global leaders are openly discussing topics that would have once been hidden. The Bilderberg Group’s 2025 meeting listed “Depopulation” among its official agenda items, a term that raises profound ethical and spiritual questions.

This agenda was publicly posted on their website.

Throughout history, a recognizable pattern has emerged:

1. Pressure builds
2. A triggering crisis occurs
3. Solutions are introduced
4. Control expands
5. A new system emerges

But today, this pattern is unfolding on a global, interconnected scale, faster and more coordinated than ever before.

What Does the Bible Say About Life and Death?

Scripture does not ignore despair—but it never promotes death as the answer.

Life belongs to God:
“The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away.” — Job 1:21
“You shall not murder.” — Exodus 20:13

God alone is the author and authority over life.

Despair is Real—But Not the End

The Bible is honest about human suffering:
• Elijah cried out, “Take my life…” (1 Kings 19:4)
• Job cursed the day he was born (Job 3)
• Paul wrote, “We despaired even of life” (2 Corinthians 1:8)

Yet in every case:
• God did not affirm death
• God met them in their pain
• God sustained them through it

Life Has Purpose

“You are fearfully and wonderfully made.” — Psalm 139:13–16
“I know the plans I have for you… to give you a future and a hope.” — Jeremiah 29:11
“You are not your own… you were bought at a price.” — 1 Corinthians 6:19–20

Life is not random. It is intentional. It is valuable. It is divinely purposed—even in suffering.

Hope Is Never Removed

“Nothing can separate us from the love of God.” — Romans 8:38–39
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.” — Psalm 34:18
“I have come that they may have life… abundantly.” — John 10:10

Even in the darkest moments, God offers hope—not escape through death, but endurance through His presence.

A Prophetic Warning for the Church

We are witnessing more than a cultural shift. We are seeing the normalization of death in a world that is losing its connection to truth.

The Bible speaks of a time when:

• Good would be called evil
• Evil would be called good (Isaiah 5:20)
• Deception would increase (Matthew 24:24)

A culture that embraces death as mercy… is a culture that has lost sight of the Author of life.

A Call to Wake Up

The world is asking questions.
People are searching for meaning.
They sense the instability… the urgency… the approaching change.
But where is the Church?

Now is not the time for silence. Now is the time for clarity, truth, and boldness.
Because while the world offers death as a solution, Jesus offers life.

Final Thought

The rise of hopelessness…
The normalization of assisted death…
The discussion of depopulation at the highest levels…

These are not isolated trends. They are signals. The question is not whether the world is changing. The question is, are we discerning the times?

Call to Action

If this message resonates with you, share it. Encourage someone who is struggling.

And above all—return to the truth of God’s Word. Because in a world drifting toward death… the message of life has never been more urgent.

Maranatha, Lord Jesus.
