ChatGPT Gov

Tuesday, March 04, 2025

How do you feel when decisions are made, decisions that will affect you, and you have no say in the matter? Are you OK with policies being created and put into effect without you having the ability to opt out? Are you aware that global world leaders are moving in a direction that will allow governments access to sensitive personal material? We are heading down a path the world has never been down. This path can be either frustrating or exciting; I believe that is a personal decision.

OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Gov, a chatbot tailored to government agencies. This version of OpenAI allows agencies to use ChatGPT Gov within their own Microsoft Azure cloud. OpenAI is similarly working with the UK government to launch an AI chatbot on the UK.gov website. This is a step in the direction of world leaders having technology that can cover and unite the globe. This is not the mark of the beast, because we are not in that place in history, but this is the technology that will allow for the mark of the beast to be implemented.

OpenAI for the U.S. Government

In a recent public announcement, OpenAI said, "By making our products available to the U.S. government, we aim to ensure AI serves the national interest and the public good, aligned with democratic values while empowering policymakers to deliver better services to the American people," According to OpenAI, Since 2024, more than 90,000 users in over 3,500 US federal, state, and local government agencies have sent over 18 million messages in ChatGPT. Now, with ChatGPT Gov, the usage of AI will increase within many, if not all, government agencies.
Recently, President Donald Trump rescinded Joe Biden's executive order that would introduce safeguards for AI systems in the U.S. Remember in January, President Trump announced Stargate, a $500 billion joint venture to build multiple AI data centers.

I am not a fan of the mainline media, but here is what they are saying. CNBC said, "OpenAI announced its biggest product launch since its enterprise rollout. It's called ChatGPT Gov and was built specifically for U.S. government use. The USA Today said, "We believe the U.S. government's adoption of artificial intelligence can boost efficiency and productivity and is crucial for maintaining and enhancing America's global leadership in this technology."

So what is ChatGPT Gov?

ChatGPT Gov is a specialized version of OpenAI's ChatGPT, tailored to meet the unique needs of U.S. government agencies. Launched in January 2025, this platform enables federal, state, and local agencies to access and utilize OpenAI's advanced AI models securely.

The public is being told that the introduction of ChatGPT Gov reflects OpenAI's commitment to supporting government entities in leveraging cutting-edge AI technology to enhance public services, improve operational efficiency, and address complex challenges while upholding the highest standards of security and privacy.

Is ChatGPT Gov Dangerous?

ChatGPT Gov is said to be designed with enhanced security and compliance features specifically for U.S. government agencies, but like any AI system, it comes with both benefits and potential risks. FedScoop, which on its website says it is the leading tech media brand in the federal government market, claims to have more than 7.1M monthly unique engagements. To produce reports, FedScoop says it gathers top leaders from the White House, federal agencies, academia, and the tech industry to monitor technology usage in the federal government.

From their website dated, February 2024, they said, "As of now, several agencies, including the Social Security Administration, the Department of Energy, and Veterans Affairs, have taken steps to block the technology on their systems. Some, including NASA, have or are working on establishing secure testing environments to evaluate generative AI systems. The Agriculture Department has even set up a board to review potential generative AI use cases within the agency."

Potential Risks of ChatGPT Gov

• Data Privacy & Security: Mismanagement of sensitive data

• AI Misuse: Unintended AI outputs

• Over-Reliance on AI: There's a risk that agencies might rely too heavily on AI for decision-making, thus taking the human element out of the picture

Executive Order Removing Barriers to American Leadership in AI

In January 2025, President Donald Trump signed an executive order titled "Removing Barriers to American Leadership in Artificial Intelligence." This order aims to revoke existing AI policies and directives that are perceived as obstacles to innovation, thereby facilitating the United States' efforts to maintain global leadership in AI. This executive order revised the executive order signed in 2019, "Maintaining American Leadership in Artificial Intelligence." That executive order established federal principles and strategies to enhance the nation's AI capabilities.

The 2025 executive order reflects the administration's commitment to eliminate or reduce any possible hurdles. However, some experts have expressed concern that this may lead to challenges in safeguarding ethical standards.

In his comments to world leaders at the AI Action Summit in Paris, Vice President JD Vance laid out one view of where the Trump administration should go on AI: "This administration will ensure that American AI technology continues to be the gold standard worldwide and we are the partner of choice for others — foreign countries and certainly businesses — as they expand their own use of AI." He specifically spoke about the importance of America having its own advanced semiconductor design industry. There's a desperate scramble in the AI industry to source enough of the advanced computer chips on which AI systems run.

In summary, the executive order seeks to enhance American AI leadership by removing regulatory barriers. So, the question becomes, what will the cost be to the American public? Not just financially but also for privacy and freedom. It seems that technology is becoming harder and harder to keep up with. It seems weekly, something in the world of technology is being updated or released. I have come to a place where this just increased the urgency I have in sharing the gospel with as many people as possible. We truly are living in a unique time. Please understand that we live in a day that no other generation has ever experienced. The day in which we live adds depth to the verse from Luke 21:28, "When these things begin to come to pass, look up, and lift up your heads; because your redemption is drawing near."
